AV8OR Handheld:
Airport Diagrams
FAA Airport Diagrams for the U.S. have been added to the AV8OR handheld (charts subscription required). A subscription to the
Airport Diagrams is available from Seattle Avionics (www.seattleavionics.com/av8or). Once subscribed, an automatic charts
download utility called the “Data Manager” will need to be installed on your home computer. The data manger will automatically
download Airport Diagrams and update your AV8OR any time that it is plugged into your PC via the USB cable.
In order to view an Airport Diagram, you can either select “Taxiway” from the Main Menu, or you can select “Airport Diagram” from
the “More Info” screen for any selected airport.

The aircraft icon is displayed on the airport diagram, based on the aircraft’s GPS position.
The Airport Diagram Page displays the complete FAA Airport Diagram, including any communication frequency information,
Caution notes and runway altitude information. The “Rotate” button may be used to rotate the airport diagram into an orientation
suitable for reading the appropriate information.
In addition, a “Quick View” button is available to quickly move the view to a specific section of the Airport Diagram. In the above
example, the button is titled “TOP LEFT”. However, the option will change to each of the four corners of the map in sequence as
the button is pressed. The “FULL SCREEN” button may be selected at any time to return to the complete Airport Diagram view.
Please note that Airport Diagrams are only available for airports that the FAA has published diagrams available.
Portable Glass Panel
A new feature, the AV8OR Portable Glass Panel, has been added as an option from the main menu. This page simulates a
modern, glass panel PFD. The instruments are based on GPS input ONLY. Therefore, the AV8OR Portable Glass Panel displays
Rate of Turn, Ground Speed, GPS Altitude, Vertical Speed and a Compass Rose integrated with the aircraft flight plan display.
Wide Window Data Fields
Data field sizes may now be modified to make the text easier to read. To select larger data fields, go to the main menu and select
“Settings”. Select “Data Field Setup” from the options list. A new button is available that will toggle from “Wide Windows” to
“Narrow Windows.”

Destination WPT and Next WPT Data Fields
A new data field has been added to the options for the Destination Waypoint. Both the Destination Waypoint and the Next WPT
data fields are now “active” data fields that can be selected to jump to the waypoint information page. In order to jump to the
waypoint information page, simply “double tap” on the data field when a waypoint identifier is displayed.

AV8OR ACE:
VFR Sectionals
FAA VFR Sectional Charts for the U.S. have been added to the AV8OR ACE (charts subscription required). A subscription to the
VFR Sectional charts is available from Seattle Avionics (www.seattleavionics.com/av8or). Once subscribed, an automatic charts

download VFR Sectional charts and update your AV8OR ACE any time that it is plugged into your PC via the USB cable.
In order to view a VFR Sectional chart, select “MAP VIEW” and then “CHANGE VIEW” from the main map page. “VFR Sectional
Chart” will be available from the menu list. Please note that this option will only be shown in the list is you have previously
subscribed and downloaded the VFR Sectional Charts.
VFR Sectional Charts can be configured with waypoint, obstacle and airspace overlays, similar to HI/LO IFR Enroute Charts.

This feature is available in both Portrait and Landscape modes. In Portrait Mode, the additional feature of a “Split Screen”

The lower half of the Portable Glass Panel page can be modified to display the Topo Map (Topo on or off), IFR HI/LO Enroute Charts or
VFR Sectionals. In order to change the map view, select “MAP VIEW” and then “CHANGE VIEW”.

European Charts
Beginning August 1, 2010, subscriptions for European charts from Eurocontrol will be available by subscription. These charts may
only be loaded onto an Atlantic ACE SD card (available from any authorized Bendix King dealer).

Availability of IFR Alternate Min and Take-Off Minimums Charts
IFR Alternate Min and Take-Off Minimums Charts have been added to the AV8OR ACE. They are available from the approach
charts selection page for any airport that has published IFR Alternate Min and Take-Off Minimums charts.
