APA Reference Page
When cing sources in APA format, you need to cite your
sources in two separate places: in-text, and on the Reference
page. The below informaon will cover how to cite several
commonly used sources and how to format the Reference
page. In-text cing is covered on a dierent handout.
BOOKS
• Basic format for books: Author's last name, first and middle
initials. (Year of publication). Title of Book. Name of publisher.
Ex: Bradbury, R. (1953). Fahrenheit 451. Random House
Publishing Group.
• For more than two authors, everyone’s name is flipped
around.
Ex: Brandon, L. & Brandon, K. (2015). At a Glance:
Writing Essays and Beyond with Integrated Writings.
Cengage Learning.
• For a book with no author, like a Bible or sacred text, just
start with the title and include everything else.
Ex: NIV Children's Bible. (2016). Zondervan..
• For an article from a reference work (dictionary or
encyclopedia): Author/organization’s name. (Year of
Publication). Title of entry/word. In Title of Reference Work
(edition number, page numbers). Publisher Name.
Ex: Merriam-Webster, Inc. (2002). Penguin. In Webster’s
Dictionary and Thesaurus (p. 272). Geddes & Grosset.
