We are excited to showcase over 200 events, including your

Picnic Day could only be possible with the incredible support from
the University staff, campus officials, alumni, students, and community
members. From us to you, we hope you enjoy the 110th Picnic Day as
much as we have enjoyed planning it. We invite you to celebrate the
spectacularity of our community through the “Picnic Palooza”.

Message from the ChancellorMessage from Parade Marshal
I love this years theme “Picnic Palooza!” This theme that sparks joy and
laughter represents my experience with the students who plan Picnic
Day. It demonstrates how the students (and hopefully myself) work
hard and play hard to enjoy the fruits of their labor. As Bradford said,
“one major step of that journey is enjoying the process as we create
our reality.” I love this because one of the things that I try to remember
and remind others to do is “Enjoy the Journey.” The journey of growth,
learning, and empowerment that happens as a college student is so
magical and an important time in life. Really taking it in and being
present is so valuable.
Working with students during my 20+ years in Student Affairs at UC
Davis has been an honor and privilege. It means so much to me to be
selected as this years Picnic Day Parade Marshall!
Thanks,
Sheri Atkinson
Welcome to Picnic Day 2024!
Today, UC Davis opens its doors wide to showcase our world class research, our experts
and our unique programs. There’s a broad array of activities to enjoy and places to visit,
from hands-on experiences with animals and plants, crafts workshops, fashion show, our
dazzling chemistry demonstration and so much more.
Picnic Day 2024 is about celebration and community as we gather under the theme of
“Picnic Palooza.” You and your families will feel the energy that sparks UC Davis as a
top-ranked public university and a place that thrives with friendship. We hope Picnic Day
inspires the next generation of Aggies!
2024 also marks a special milestone for UC Davis. Robert Arneson’s iconic Egghead
sculptures were installed on campus 30 years ago. We’re spending the year honoring
these beloved works and Arneson’s legacy as a UC Davis art professor. Take this Picnic
Day to visit the Eggheads around campus and look for a new line of Egghead-themed
apparel and merchandise to sport your Aggie pride.
Picnic Day is among the largest student-run events in the United States, so LeShelle and I
thank the students and volunteers for making todays event possible. We also appreciate
the bond UC Davis has with the entire community, as we continue this definitive Davis
tradition in its 110th year. Thank you for participating and embracing all that Picnic Day
2024 has to offer.
Gary S. May
Chancellor
Message from the UC Davis & City of Davis police departments
UC Davis community and visitors,
Welcome to the 110th UC Davis Picnic Day, “Picnic Palooza”. We are pleased you could join us for our annual open house and hope you experience all
that the campus and City of Davis have to offer. As a much revered tradition since1909, we aspire for everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit to our
campus and town.
As a reminder, UC Davis is a smoke-free and zero-tolerance campus. Alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and all other drugs are prohibited at all times. It is
important to us that Picnic Day remains a community and family-friendly event. Your safety and campus security are our utmost priorities. As we enjoy this
event it’s also good to remember that the same laws apply as any other day: you must be 21 years of age to carry or possess alcohol and open contain-
ers are not allowed on any streets or sidewalks, including at many public parks and open spaces. The Davis police and campus police will be enforcing
alcohol, party, and noise prohibition ordinances, and many fines are doubled in an effort to keep everyone safe. Please celebrate responsibly!
We encourage all residents and visitors to take the Picnic Day pledge and conduct themselves responsibly during Picnic Day 110 to enjoy the palooza!
Other helpful tips:
• Remember to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
• Never leave your valuables unattended
• Call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency
Safety is our number one priority and together, we can preserve Picnic Day for future generations of Davis students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.
When the campus activities end, please head to downtown Davis to enjoy some of the great restaurants or reminisce about your local favorites. Please
help us keep Picnic Day 2024, safe, fun, and memorable for everyone.
