PBS MICHIANA - WNIT • 50 YEARS • EDUCATE • INSPIRE • UNIFY
2 PBS Michiana - WNIT | 50 YEARS
Dear PBS Michiana Super Users,
e party has started! We launched our year of celebrations on January 31
st
, 2024 which
marked the 50
th
anniversary of our rst broadcast in 1974. ank you to everyone who has
supported us in our journey. We plan to have events throughout our broadcast area in the
coming months. I hope I get to meet you at one of them.
I was watching a station other than PBS Michiana-WNIT on February 11
th
. at was Super
Bowl Sunday and I watched the game on a NextGen TV channel. e pictures were stunning,
a cut above high denition. Next Gen TV is the new broadcast technology that is to eventually
replace our current HD standard. PBS Michiana-WNITs primary channel is already
broadcasting in this new format. It takes the spectacular photography in programs like Nature
to whole new level. Just dazzling!
We’ve got great programs to go along with those great looking pictures. March is Womens
Heritage Month, and we will bring back our favorite episodes from our local Women in
Leadership series of programs. Look for them Wednesdays at 7:30pm. As a little boy, I loved
trains, so Epic Train Journeys om Aboe caught my attention. It premieres ursday, March
14
th
at 10pm. You will be staying up late on Sunday evenings. Five new dramas premiere on
March 17
th
. en on the 18
th
and 19th, Dante: Inferno to Paradise airs.
April is loaded with “good stu ” too. Each Monday at 9pm PBS Michiana-WNIT presents a
new episode of a 4-part series about the former House of David in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
e last two episodes focus on their baseball team which traveled nationally. It’s very interesting
local history! e series Julius Caesar: Making of a Dictator will come your way Tuesdays at
9pm, A Brief History of the Future will be on Wednesdays at 9pm, and Mr. Bates vs the Post Oce
premieres Monday, April 7
th
at 9pm.
Once a month, starting Saturday, April 6
th
, at 10pm Michiana-WNIT is thrilled to present
e Wild Rose Moon Hour television show. Produced in Plymouth from live performances at
the Wild Rose Moon in downtown Plymouth, this hour-long show features local and regional
music talent. It will air just before Austin City Limits. Our ambition is to create an ongoing time
period to feature local music.
I hope I can count on you to help launch PBS Michiana-WNIT into our next 50 years
of service. It will certainly be dierent. We think we must increase our local original
programming. What local programs and topics are most important to you and your
community? Drop me a note!
We have a lot of interesting, informative and entertaining programming coming your way in
the next two months. We’re able to provide them because of your support. ank you for
everything. Happy viewing!
Sincerely,
Greg Giczi
