st
Spring Semester: November 1
st
Maymester: April 1
st
Summer (June & July): May 1
st
2. What are the requirements to be considered qualified to transfer to GC?
To qualify for consideration to transfer to GC you must:
Have 30 semester hours/45 quarter hours or more transferable credits at the time of
application or are projected to complete 30 semester/45 quarter hours before your
intended entry term at GC.
Must have a 2.5 or higher transfer GPA to be considered for admission (Nursing and
Education require a 2.75 GPA for admission, if you are applying to these majors you
must meet their requirements to be admissible to the college). The Education and
Nursing majors require additional applications to be considered for their cohort.
3. What if I do not have 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of transferable course work at
the time of application and cannot complete them?
Students who have not completed 30 or more transferable hours following their graduation
from high school are considered transfer freshman and must meet freshman AND transfer
application requirement. A complete application will include:
Complete Application
Application Fee
Essay Questions
Final High School Transcript (showing Graduation date and completion of college prep
curriculum)
ACT/SAT scores (we encourage you to send scores from all attempts and we will super
score)
Official transcripts from any college or university attended.
4. Can Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate course credit or Exempted Courses
count toward the required 30 completed semester hours?
Advanced Placement credit, IB, and exempted courses may count toward meeting transfer
credits but will not be counted toward meeting admissions criteria. When submitting AP scores
from the College Board the code for GC is 5252. Once an admission decision has been posted,
students should be able to see the transferable credits posted in degree works.
5. I was admitted to GC as a first-year student, but chose to go to another institution. Does this
affect my future application to GC?
There are a couple of scenarios:
If you applied as a first year the Fall Term and you were offered admission for Spring Term
entry and decided to attend another college in the interim this does not affect your admission to
GC HOWEVER you are required to submit transcripts from the university or college you
attended.
If you applied as a first year and were not admitted but since that time you have completed
some college level work and you feel that you meet the requirements and you want to reapply,
we welcome and encourage you to do so.
6. Does it matter where I go to school first in order to transfer to GC?
No. However GC only accepts coursework from United States institutions accredited by the
regional organizations of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. An Outsourced Credit
Evaluation is required for Non-U.S. institutions. Transferable credit from a community or
technical college is generally listed in their transfer/general education core. Non-academic, sub-
college level, non-credit, experiential learning, professional certification and areas of study not
also taught at GC will not be transferred. Some schools do not have regional accreditation.
Therefore, the coursework and degree will not be recognized by traditional regionally accredited
colleges and universities, and may not be recognized by some employers. If you would like to
see a list of regionally accredited universities and colleges please see the links below.

7. I have attended more than one institution. Do I need to send transcripts form every school at
which I have taken college level work?
Yes. Although many college transcripts will show transfer work from other institutions
applicants are required to submit official transcripts from every college or university attended.
8. How will I know which classes will transfer to GC?
We cannot tell students what courses definitely will or will not transfer until an application and
transcripts are submitted. Admitted students will be able to log-in to Degree Works and see
coursework that has transferred.
However, to get an idea of which courses will transfer, refer to our
Transfer Articulation
Information Locator. Though this is not a totally exhaustive search engine, it does list courses
that transfer to GC and their GC equivalent for many schools in the state of Georgia as well as
many non-Georgia schools from which our students transfer. For more details on acceptance of
transfer credit, visit our page below.

9. Why are some courses listed as electives on the Transfer Articulation Information Locator?
Courses that do not match existing GC courses because of content, hours and GC Departmental
instructions are transferred as electives. The information does change periodically so students
are encouraged to keep course syllabus and catalogs. If you believe that a course you have
taken at another institution should transfer towards your core or major you can petition the
registrar but you will need supporting documentation.
10. What if the transferring course is not on the Transfer Articulation Information Locator?
Typically Bachelor’s Degree Level courses should transfer. Prospective applicants and students
will need to wait until they are admitted for more information regarding transfer coursework.
11. Does GC use plus/minus grades from my previous college?
No, GPA calculations are based on straight letter grades.
12. How many hours does a transfer student have to complete at GC to earn a degree from GC?
You must complete 21 of the last 30 upper division credit hours at GC/at least 18 hours in major
at GC/minimum of 40 hours total at GC.
